Venetian feasts
Popular festivals in Venice
Most of Venetian traditional town festivals are held in Summer, like Sant'Antonio feast at San Francesco della Vigna in June, the famous San Pietro di Castello (the most important event in Castello district) in July, the popular San Giacomo dell'Orio in July and the Liberazione fest at Rialto, in September.
Traditional Venetian feasts take place on squares, and include traditional cuisine (from fried fish to cicheti and grilled meat) and live music, performed by local groups. They are extremely popular among Venetians of all ages.
However, there are a few festival in cold months, too: San Martino feast in San Giacomo square in November and the Festa del Mosto on Sant'Erasmo island in October. There is no better place where to warm up with hot red wine!
