Trasportation in Venice
How to get around in Venice
Getting around in Venice is not hard as it may seem, as the city is very well connected, and public transportation is guaranteed 24 hours on the main lines.
Although this may look obvious to many people, there are still tourists who arrive to Venice without knowing that transportation in Venice is exclusively by boat.
Of course in Venice there are streets, but these are reserved for pedestrians. Due to the limited width of the streets, and to the numerous bridges, any other mean of transportation in Venice would be impossible.
Therefore, visitors will need to walk, or to buy tickets for the vaporetti, the public transportation boats. Of course, taxi also exist, and they are boats.
However, on the mainland, in the modern suburbs of Venice transportation is by car or bus, just like everywhere else.
