Since 1720, the Cafe Florian in Venice is the oldest Italian cafe, located in a privileged position under the portico of St. Marco Square in New Procuratie a historical place where you can still feel a very strong tradition of Venetian, then as now a place of 'meeting of several worlds. Opened December 29, 1720 became known as the coffee shop. From the beginning he had a distinguished clientele. The Venetian noblemen sat next to ambassadors, merchants, fortune hunters, and artists. From here, Carlo Goldoni drew inspiration for some of his important works. They sat at their tables such personalities, just to name a few: Goethe, Foscolo, Charles Dickens, Marcel Proust, Grabriele D'Annunzio and Eleonora Duse, Rousseau, Stravinsky, Modigliani, Antonio Canova and Giacomo Casanova.
