Venice and Mestre connected by tram

Venice and Mestre now closer

Work has started on the laying of the tram line which links Venice to Mestre. The work involves the completion of the current network with passage through the Liberty Bridge. A complex challenge for the council, made tricky by the already narrow roads of the bridge.

A new way to get to Venice and a unique opportunity for visitors who may rely on the cheapest hotels on the mainland without sacrificing proximity to the cities.

The two locations have never been so close.

The tram network is represented with a T and has two lines:  line 1 which connects Piazzale Roma with Favaro, passing through San Julian (tourist terminal to Venice by water) and crossing the center of Mestre, line 2 which combines the shopping malls of Marghera with the heart of Mestre.

The tram to Venice will be completed by 2014. Tickets will be distributed by the authorized dealers of ACTV.
