Indiana Jones in Venice
Founded in XIX century, San Barnaba church was rebuilt twice; the today's Neoclassical appearance is from XVIII century, maybe inspired by the Gesuati church nearby.
In the inside, it hosts a permanent exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci's machines, so that observation of the interior decoration may result quite difficult.
San Barnaba church has played a role in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade": the protagonist found catacombs and dead crusaders under its floor, and then emerged on campo San Barnaba right in front of the church.
San Barnaba church can be reached from Santa Margherita square. Vaporetto stop: Ca' Rezzonico on the Grand Canal, either Accademia or San Basilio.
