Venice Natural History Museum

Discovering the natural history of Venice

Venice Natural History Museum enjoys a privileged location: an ancient building facing the Grand Canal, the Fontego dei Turchi, where Turkish merchants had to live and work during the Age of the Republic of Venice.
Established in 1923, the Natural History Museum of Venice concentrates on the natural environment of the lagoon, with an aquarium illustrating the secrets of the lagoon's waters.
Other areas covered by the museum are Paleontology (with wide display of fossils, including the skeleton of a huge Dinosaur) and Biology, with a few rooms dedicated to Venetian explorers and to naturalist collections.
Venice Natural History Museum is strongly committed in research and education, and has facilities such as a conference hall, laboratories and a library.

Water bus stops: San Stae or Riva de Biasio.
